Portable SDI and HDMI Capture for Mac and Windows Workflows

UltraStudio Mini Recorder is designed for creators and technicians who need a compact way to bring a camera, switcher, or other video source into a computer for recording. With a single Thunderbolt connection, it keeps your setup lightweight for on-location capture, live production ingest, or quick transfers from SDI or HDMI sources.

Connections and Embedded Audio Support

The unit features 1 x SDI video input (10-bit SD/HD switchable) and 1 x HDMI type A video input. Audio is supported as 8 channels of embedded audio over both SDI and HDMI in SD and HD formats, with television-standard 48 kHz, 24-bit sampling.

Supported Video Standards and Color

For broad compatibility with common production formats, UltraStudio Mini Recorder supports SD standards (525i29.97 NTSC, 625i25 PAL) and HD standards including 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30, 1080PsF23.98, 1080PsF24, 1080PsF25, 1080PsF29.97, 1080PsF30, 1080i50, 1080i59.94, and 1080i60. Video sampling is 4:2:2 with 10-bit color precision, supporting REC 601 and REC 709 color spaces.

SDI compliance includes SMPTE 259M and 292M, plus metadata features such as VITC read for 3:2 pulldown removal, HD RP188, closed captioning support, and VANC capture using up to 3 lines of video in file. HDMI provides pixel-for-pixel HD resolution input to the connected device, with 10-bit HDMI color precision.

Recording Codecs and Power

UltraStudio Mini Recorder supports a wide range of codecs, including AVC-Intra, AVCHD, Canon XF MPEG2, Digital SLR, DV-NTSC, DV-PAL, DVCPRO50, DVCPROHD, DPX, HDV, XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD, XDCAM HD422, Apple ProRes 4444, Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes LT, Apple ProRes 422 Proxy, and uncompressed 8-bit and 10-bit 4:2:2.

It is powered by the Thunderbolt cable (not included). Copy Protection: HDMI input is unable to capture from copy protected HDMI sources. Always confirm copyright ownership before capture or distribution of content.
