Encompassing all the new technologies develeoped for the MMX Spot, the Robin MMX WashBeam combines a wide, even wash with a tight beam look in one moving head. Using a Philips MSR Platinum 35 light source (1200 W equivalent) and Robe’s MMX optical system, it delivers output that can rival many traditional 1200 W fixtures, making it a practical choice for touring, rental inventories, theaters, and houses of worship that need flexibility from a single unit.

Wash-to-Beam Optics for Versatile Looks

With a simple lens change, the WashBeam switches from a super-flat, even wash (zoom range 4° to 54°) to a narrow beam effect machine (zoom range 3° to 65°). Both modes retain key MMX performance tools like motorized zoom and focus, variable hot-spot control for beam flatness, and a full-range dimmer/shutter with variable strobe and the electronic “ZAP” effect.

Color, CTO, and Gobo Effects

For color work, the fixture offers full CMY color mixing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow each 0 to 100%), plus a color wheel with 6 dichroic filters plus white, and variable CTO (0 to 100%) for dialing in anything from saturated looks to more natural, camera-friendly whites. For texture and aerial effects, the rotating gobo wheel includes 6 rotating, indexable, replaceable “SLOT & LOCK” glass gobos, plus open and a beam reducer, with 8 or 16-bit positioning and rotation control.

Motorized Internal Barndoor Beam Shaper

A standout feature is the innovative internal motorized barndoors module, designed for creating unique shapes and chases while simulating barndoor effects. The module includes four individually controllable blades and rotates up to 180 degrees, giving designers tighter control over spill, edges, and movement without external accessories.

Control, Networking, and Professional Integration

The Robin MMX WashBeam supports DMX-512 and RDM, plus network protocols including ArtNet, MA Net, and MA Net2, with 3 DMX modes (34, 29, or 26 channels) to fit different console and rig requirements. Connections include locking 3-pin and 5-pin XLR and RJ45, and the built-in analyzer helps with quick fault finding. Operation and setup are supported by the Robe Navigation System 2 (RNS2) color touch screen with battery backup, along with stand-alone capability and 3 user-defined programs (up to 100 steps each).
