NEW Chauvet DJ Obey 40

The Chauvet DJ Obey 40 is a universal DMX lighting controller designed for programming and running lighting shows with modern intelligent fixtures. It builds on the Obey 10 with expanded capacity, letting you control up to 12 fixtures at 16 channels each for a total of 192 channels of DMX control, plus added fog and strobe control and MIDI compatibility for flexible show integration.

Programming Capacity for Multi-Fixture Rigs

With 30 banks of 8 scenes, the Obey 40 stores up to 240 scenes, making it a practical fit for DJs, small venues, mobile productions, and installations that need repeatable looks for different songs, sets, or events. It also supports 6 sets of chase effects containing 240 scenes, so you can build movement and color changes into your show and trigger them as needed.

Hands-On Playback and Live Control

For on-the-fly operation, the Obey 40 includes beat activation, tap-sync, and auto run, helping you match chase timing to music without complex setup. Reversible sliders make it easier to adapt to different fixture patching styles, and you can grab any fixture on the fly, reassign channels, and sequentially link chases to refine your programming as your rig changes.

Connectivity, Mounting, and Power

The controller uses 3-pin XLR DMX connectors and includes a DMX polarity selector for compatibility with a wider range of DMX systems. MIDI compatibility allows integration with other MIDI-capable gear and workflows. For permanent installs or road racks, it conveniently mounts in a 3-space (3U) rack. Power is supplied via 9 VDC, 500 mA (external power supply: 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz).
