These Vari-Lite VL3500 Spot moving lights show signs of wear, but they have been well maintained and are in good working condition. L6-20 connectors are installed on the power cables.

The VARI*LITE VL3500 Spot luminaire is a high-output moving head spot designed for professional stage, theater, and touring lighting applications. It combines a 6:1 zoom range (10° to 60°), CYM color mixing, variable CTO color temperature correction, and a complete gobo and effects toolset for precise beam shaping and dynamic aerial looks.

Color, beam, and effects tools

The VL3500 Spot features a three-filter CYM cross-fading mechanism for smooth color mixing, along with a six-position fixed color wheel with interchangeable filters. The color wheel supports continuous rotation for additional color effects, and the variable CTO filter helps you match warmer or cooler sources and maintain consistent camera and stage color balance.

A 13-element zoom optics system supports tight beams through wide coverage, while variable beam focus lets you sharpen patterns for crisp projection or soften edges for more atmospheric texture. The unit also offers remarkable depth of field capability that supports morphing effects between pattern and effects wheels.

Gobos, shutters, dimming, and strobe control

For projection and breakup effects, two gobo/effects wheels are provided: one wheel with five rotatable, indexable gobo positions plus open, and one fixed wheel with six positions for standard or custom gobos plus open. A four-blade shutter mechanism allows blades to be operated independently or in unison on two planes for a clear and crisp image, and the entire shutter module can rotate 50o in either direction for easier framing.

Full field dimming is designed for smooth timed fades as well as quick dimming effects. A high-performance dual blade strobe system delivers ultra-fast operation when you need punchy rhythmic hits or rapid intensity accents.

Power and control integration

An upper enclosure houses the control electronics as well as the arc power supply for the 1200 watt short arc lamp. The arc power supply is power factor corrected for efficient power distribution.

Motion is smooth and time-controlled via three-phase stepper motor systems, with Pan - 540° and Tilt - 270° for broad stage coverage. The VL3500 Spot luminaire can be controlled from a wide variety of DMX512 consoles, making it straightforward to integrate into existing lighting rigs and control workflows.
