The Vari-Lite VL3500 Wash FX is a high-output moving head wash luminaire built for touring, rental, and permanent installations that need fast, repeatable looks and flexible beam shaping. It combines internal zoomable beam optics with an interchangeable front lens system and a four position plus open rotating FX pattern wheel to move from smooth wash coverage to more textured, effect-driven looks.

Color and Beam Control for Versatile Wash Looks

The VL3500 Wash FX provides CYM color mixing for smooth crossfades, plus variable CTO color temperature correction to better match cameras, conventional sources, or mixed rigs. For more punchy, predefined color choices and effects, it also includes dual five-position color wheels, each capable of continuous wheel rotation.

Its zoomable beam spreader mechanism delivers continuous beam size control for quick changes or timed transitions from the console. In conjunction with its zoomable optics system, Vari-Lite introduces the VARI-BRITE mode. From almost any zoom position, this mode can be engaged to offer a tight column of remarkably intense light, useful when you need a more concentrated beam without changing fixtures.

Output, Dimming, and Strobe Performance

A triple wattage, double-ended lamp can be operated at 900W, 1200W, or 1650W (mode selectable from fixture or console), letting you balance brightness and power draw for the venue. Output is rated at > 70,000 lumens in 1650W mode, with color temperature listed at 6000K (1650W) and 6300K (900W and 1200W).

Full field dimming is designed for smooth timed fades as well as quick dimming effects. A high-performance dual blade strobe system is independent of the dimmer wheel and capable of ultra-fast operation, making it easier to build crisp hits and rhythmic effects without sacrificing fade quality.

Movement, Control, and Rig Integration

Pan and tilt are driven by three-phase stepper motor systems for smooth, time-controlled motion, with a 540° pan range and 270° tilt range. Positioning resolution is listed at 0.3° for consistent focusing and repeatable cues. The fixture is completely compatible with a wide variety of DMX512 consoles and uses 22 DMX channels.

Designed for practical rigging, the VL3500 Wash FX can be mounted and operated in any orientation, hangs on 28 in. (71.2 cm) centers, and weighs approximately 97 lbs (44 kg). Power requirements are 200 to 264 VAC, 50/60 Hz, drawing 7 to 12 A depending on supply voltage. Cooling is forced air, with an operational temperature range of -20° to 104°F (-29° to 40°C).
