The NEW Elation Proteus Brutus is an extremely bright IP65-rated LED wash, beam, and FX moving head built for high-impact outdoor and indoor productions where you need reliable output and consistent performance in challenging environments.

Providing up to 75,000 lumens from its custom designed 1200W 6,500K Peak Field LED engine, the Proteus Brutus is the ideal fixture for outdoor applications requiring superior output, bright and powerful wash, quiet operation, and vivid color and effects that read clearly at long throw distances. Its sealed, dustproof and waterproof design makes it a strong fit for outdoor concerts, special events, theme parks, cruise ships, and any installation or touring rig that benefits from an IP65 housing.

Beam, Wash, and Effects Control

Proteus Brutus provides the designer a comprehensive FX package with 6 rotating glass gobos, an animation wheel, frost, and a high-speed iris for dynamic aerial looks and textured washes. A fast zoom range from 4.5° to 45° (beam angle 4.4° to 39.4°, field angle 6.8° to 49.7°) helps it shift quickly from tight beam work to wide coverage, and the large 220mm front lens supports a strong, punchy optical presence on big stages and long-throw applications.

Color System and Output Tuning

For color and tone shaping, the fixture combines CMY color mixing with variable CTO for smooth white balance correction on camera or in mixed rigs. A 6-position color wheel includes a High CRI filter and UV filter, and the fixture is rated CRI 70+ (82+ with the HCRI filter) for improved color rendering when more accurate skin tones and scenic detail matter.

Optional Framing and Precision Shaping

For applications that need more controlled beam shaping, the Proteus Brutus offers an optional indexable framing system that provides full blackout shutter cuts for precise beam shape control.

Connectivity, Protocols, and Rigging Workflow

The Proteus Brutus supports DMX and RDM plus Art-NET and sACN for flexible integration into modern lighting networks. It includes 16-bit pan, tilt, and dimming control, motorized focus, multiple dimming curve modes, and a DMX-controllable LED refresh rate for optimizing on-camera performance. Physical I/O includes 5-pin XLR DMX in/out, IP65 RJ45 ethernet in/out, and an IP65 locking power cable input, with a 6-button touch control panel and a full-color, 180° reversible LCD menu display for fast setup whether the fixture is floor-based or flown.

Build, Motion, and Service Life

Designed for touring and fixed outdoor installs alike, the fixture offers 540°/630° pan and 266° tilt, hibernation mode (power save), and an average LED life of 30,000 hours. Dimensions are 643.6mm (25.3 in) length, 456.9mm (18 in) width, and 869mm (34.2 in) height, with a weight of 47.2kg (104.1 lbs.).

The PROTEUS BRUTUS fixture ships in a cardboard box with a custom fitted polyurethane foam FIL (Foam In Lay) insert. This foam insert easily fits into a custom sized flight case (not included), and provides enhanced impact protection during transport.
