RDL HR-MP2 Dual Microphone Preamplifier
Description
The RDL HR-MP2 is a dual channel microphone preamplifier designed to bring clean, controllable gain to two microphones and deliver balanced line-level outputs for connection to mixers, recorders, DSPs, audio interfaces, and installed sound systems. Each section provides identical rear-panel signal connections and front-panel controls, making it easy to set up matched channels for stereo sources, two presenters, or dual mic inputs in a rack, desk, or AV cabinet.
This unit may show signs of heavy wear but is in good working condition.

Dual preamp control for real-world workflows
Each preamplifier is equipped with a front-panel FILTER switch to enable or disable a 6 dB/octave low-cut filter with a -3 dB cutoff at 80 Hz, helping reduce handling noise, HVAC rumble, and other low-frequency buildup before it hits your downstream gear. Two additional switches on each input select 24 V or 48 V phantom if the master PHANTOM power selector is ON, supporting a wide range of condenser microphones and powered mic accessories.
For hot sources or close-miked speech, the INPUT PAD switch allows the operator to attenuate the input signal by 15 dB prior to the preamplifier input stage, increasing the maximum input level from +5 dBu (attenuator out) to greater than +20 dBu. A POLARITY switch provides signal polarity reversal if needed, which can be useful when combining sources or troubleshooting phase-related issues.
Gain staging and metering you can trust
The GAIN control provides continuous adjustment between 20 dB and 60 dB. An RDL Dual-LED VU meter is provided adjacent to each gain control. The meters are calibrated to indicate +4 dBu at the associated balanced output. A separate CLIP LED flashes if a signal peak is within 3 dB of clipping. The trigger threshold of the CLIP LED is 17 dB above a normal +4 dBu output, helping you set levels quickly while keeping headroom where it matters.
Flexible balanced connections and outputs
The HR-MP2 provides balanced XLR microphone inputs and balanced line-level outputs, with each preamp output available on XLR, 1/4 in TRS, or detachable terminal block to fit studio, portable, or installed wiring. Each output allows balanced or unbalanced connection, and a separate summed output (1 + 2) is provided on a detachable terminal block for simple two-channel combining when your system requires a single feed.
