Why was my card authorized for $1.00 and charged for another amount?
Payments and Taxes
When you place an order on UsedLighting.com, your cart may include a mix of immediate purchase items and quoted items (such as brokered listings or items requiring custom shipping estimates).
At checkout:
- Your card is authorized for $1.00 to validate the payment method for any quoted items. This is not a charge at the time, just a placeholder until final pricing is confirmed.
- If your order also includes immediate purchase items, you'll be charged the full amount for those items right away, as they're ready to ship.
Once a 4Wall representative reviews your quoted items, they'll contact you with the final pricing and shipping details. If you approve the quote, that $1.00 authorization is converted into the full charge for the quoted portion of your order.
This two-step process ensures:
- You're only charged for immediate items upfront.
- You don't pay for quoted items until pricing and availability are confirmed.
So, seeing a $1.00 authorization alongside a separate full charge simply reflects the way our system handles combined orders, validating your payment method while keeping you in control of your final costs.
