Proplex series data cables are built to survive the toughest conditions, yet handle and coil well, again and again and again. They have been exhaustively developed, tested and re-tested. Designed for dependable 3-pin DMX data runs, they are a practical choice for lighting control connections where consistent performance and rugged handling matter.

Built for Repeated Setup, Tear-Down, and Touring Use

These assembled DMX cables use a Kevlar strength member and a UV-resistant polyurethane jacket to help resist abrasion and strain during frequent coiling, load-ins, and cable pulls. The outer tinned copper braid (85% coverage) and inner aluminum/mylar shield (100% coverage) help protect signal integrity in electrically noisy environments common around dimmers, power distribution, and motors.

Signal and Construction Details

The cable is built with 22 AWG (0.34 mm2) tinned, annealed copper stranded conductors (19 x 34) with 200° C, 300 Volt FEP insulation (nom. wall 0.015 in [0.38 mm], min. wall 0.013 in [0.33 mm]). Pairs are cabled with a Kevlar strength member, with a black/white pair color code for consistent termination and troubleshooting practices.

Electrical characteristics include 80 Ohm characteristic impedance, capacitance of 22pf/ft nom. conductor-to-conductor and 41pf/ft nom. conductor-to-shield, and inductance of 0.32 uH/ft nom. Conductivity is 14.5 Ohms (max.) per 1,000 ft. @ 25° C.

Handling and Physical Specs

The black UV-resistant polyurethane jacket is high pressure extruded (nom. wall 0.060 in [1.52 mm]) with 550% elongation and 5,000 psi tensile strength. Outside diameter is 0.215 in (5.46 mm) nominal, weight is 29 lbs. per 1,000 ft. (41.3 Kg/Km), and minimum bend radius is 1.3 in.
