NEW Doug Fleenor DMX To iPlayer Interface
Description
The NEW Doug Fleenor DMX To iPlayer Interface receives a DMX512 input signal and outputs RS-232 commands to the iPlayer, allowing a DMX console or architectural DMX source to trigger and control playback on compatible iPlayer systems. The interface uses three consecutive DMX512 channels: trigger mode, show selection, and global intensity.
Compatible Systems
The interface is compatible with iPlayer 2, iPlayer 3 and Light System Manager which are products (and registered trademarks) of Color Kinetics Incorporated.
DMX Input and Pass-Through
DMX input runs at 250 Kb/s and uses an ESD protected EIA-485 transceiver (LT1785) for reliable operation in installed and touring environments. Input signal is 3 volts minimum, 12 volts maximum. Connection is via a gold plated 5 pin Neutrik D-1 with Pin 1 = common, Pin 2 = Data-, Pin 3 = Data+.
A gold plated female 5 pin XLR (Neutrik D-1 series) provides a wired-through DMX pass-through (all pins wired through) to continue the DMX line to downstream fixtures or devices.
DMX Channel Profiles
Choose the channel footprint that fits your patching needs: a 3-channel DMX profile (trigger mode, show selection, global intensity) or a 5-channel profile (trigger mode, hundreds, ten, ones, global intensity). Start address is set via a three digit thumbwheel switch.
RS-232 Output and Status Indicators
RS-232 output is 9600 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. The output circuit is an RS-232 driver (MAX232). Outputs are short circuit protected but not over voltage protected, and the RS-232 driver yields an approximate +/- 10 volt signal. Output connector is DB9 (male), Pin 2 = Receive, Pin 3 = Transmit, Pin 5 = signal ground. (straight DB9 Male to Female, cable provided)
Onboard indicators provide quick status at a glance: Red power LED, Green DMX signal LED, Green RS-232 transmit LED.
