Fast Forward F22 Timecode Generator / Reader
Description
The Fast Forward F22 Timecode Generator / Reader is a rack-mount SMPTE longitudinal time code (LTC) generator and reader built for video post, duplication, and sync workflows where reliable timecode, window dub, and SMPTE-to-MIDI conversion are needed at a practical cost. It reads LTC in both directions across a wide range of playback speeds and can generate, jam sync, or regenerate time code to help keep decks, editors, and downstream devices aligned.
This unit may show signs of heavy wear but is in good working condition.

Timecode Generation, Reading, and Sync
Designed to handle most applications at minimum cost, the F22 supports SMPTE LTC read (forward and reverse) from 1/30 to over 10 times play speed, along with generate with pause, jam sync, regenerate, and front-panel preset of hours, minutes, and seconds. It supports both drop-frame and non-drop-frame formats for compatibility with common broadcast and post-production timecode conventions. Time code I/O uses unbalanced RCA connectors, with adjustable timecode output level (0 to 4 V p-p into high impedance) and a timecode input range from 500 mV to 8 V p-p (high impedance).
Window Dub and Character Insertion
For review copies and tape dubs, the F22 can key characters onto an incoming video signal (unity gain amplification) to create a window dub with on/off control, background on/off, and variable sizes. It supports displaying user bits and a combined display (user bits and time code simultaneously). Video input is 1.0 Vp-p (75 ohm or high impedance) via BNC, and character-keyed video output is provided on BNC. When the F22 power switch is off, the input signal loops through, bypassing termination on video, and timecode loops through to the output.
SMPTE to MIDI Time Code
The unit converts SMPTE time code to MIDI Time Code (MTC), helping integrate audio and music systems into a timecode-based video workflow. MIDI Time Code output is provided on an industry-standard 5-pin, 180-degree circular DIN connector.
