Built with MOTU’s award-winning MIDI interface technology, the MOTU Micro Express 4x6 USB MIDI interface is a compact, USB bus-powered MIDI interface and time code synchronizer that provides expandable, plug-and-play connectivity to any USB-equipped Mac or Windows computer. It’s a practical hub for studios and live rigs that need reliable MIDI routing, tight timing, and the ability to connect multiple controllers, sound modules, and effects units at once.

Expandable MIDI Connectivity and Routing

The micro express provides 4 MIDI inputs, 6 MIDI outputs, and 96 MIDI channels, with compatibility across Mac and Windows software. Its 4x6 MIDI merge matrix lets you connect any device to any other, making it easy to reconfigure a setup without constantly repatching cables.

Stand-Alone Operation and Front-Panel Presets

When powered via USB, the micro express can function as a stand-alone MIDI patchbay/merger/processor, which is useful for keyboard splits, layering modules, or managing multiple controllers without relying on a computer. Sixteen convenient, one-touch presets (8 factory and 8 user programmable) give you instant front-panel access to multiple operational configurations, with battery-backed memory for your custom setups.

Time Code Sync and Performance Timing

For production and post workflows, it supports SMPTE time code sync in all formats (including new support for 23.976* fps time code) and supports MIDI Machine Control transport messages for compatible devices. MIDI Time Stamping (MTS) provides sub-millisecond timing accuracy to help keep MIDI performance tight during playback and recording.
