The Extron BBG 6 A Blackburst, Color Bars, and Audio Generator provides six broadcast quality, NTSC or PAL blackburst reference outputs for syncing, or genlocking, multiple pieces of video equipment to a common reference. In practice, this helps keep video sources and destinations locked together for stable timing across routers, switchers, capture devices, and other genlockable gear.

Blackburst Reference and Color Bars Output

The BBG 6 A delivers six blackburst outputs on female BNC connectors. The blackburst signal includes three reference signal components, vertical sync, horizontal sync, and color burst, making it suitable as a house reference in broadcast and production environments. For setup and troubleshooting, the first two outputs can also be switched to provide broadcast quality NTSC SMPTE Color Bars or PAL full-field Color Bars test patterns via a DIP switch, allowing quick alignment and verification without adding a separate pattern generator.

Integrated 1 kHz Audio Tone Generator

For audio line checks and troubleshooting, the built-in 1 kHz audio generator provides balanced or unbalanced output on captive screw connectors. The output level is selectable via DIP switch between +4 dBu and -10 dBV, supporting common pro and consumer line level workflows.

Installation-Friendly Form Factor

Designed for fixed installs and portable use, the BBG 6 A is housed in a 1U, quarter rack width metal enclosure and can be rack, under-desk, or projector-mounted. It includes a power indicator LED for quick status checks. Dimensions are 1.7" H x 4.3" W x 3.0" D (4.3 cm H x 10.9 cm W x 7.6 cm D), with depth excluding connectors, and it weighs 0.4 lbs (0.2 kg).
