Kramer VM-51 1:5 Composite Video Distribution Amplifier

The VM−51 is a high−performance distribution amplifier for composite or SDI video signals. It takes one input, provides correct buffering and isolation and distributes the signal to five identical outputs, making it a practical way to feed multiple monitors, recorders, or routing inputs from a single source without loading the signal.

Signal Distribution for Composite and SDI Workflows

Designed for 1Vpp 75Ω video on BNC connections, the VM-51 supports a single composite/SDI input and provides five composite/SDI outputs, each correctly terminated for standard 75Ω systems. With a maximum output level of 2.3Vpp/75Ω and 420MHz bandwidth (-3dB), it is well-suited for distributing video cleanly across longer runs or more complex AV and broadcast-style setups.

Controls for Level Matching and Cable Compensation

Front-panel controls let you fine-tune the output to match your system: level adjustment from −0.9 to +1.9dB and equalization from 0 to +4.5dB @ 5.8MHz to help compensate for high-frequency loss in cabling. DC coupling preserves low-frequency content where required by the signal path.

Low-Noise, Precision Performance in a Compact Form

For signal integrity, the VM-51 specifies 73dB S/N ratio with very low differential gain (0.05%) and differential phase (0.07 Deg), plus K-Factor at 0.05%. The compact chassis measures 9.9cm x 4.7cm x 2.4cm (3.9” x 1.85” x 0.94”) and weighs approximately 0.2kg (0.44lbs), and it runs on 12V DC power (80mA) for easy integration into racks, carts, or desktop AV systems.
