The ROBE ROBIN MMX Blade is a discharge moving head fixture designed for stages, houses of worship, tours, and installed venues that need strong output and precise beam shaping. Based on the MMX platform (with output comparable to 1200W luminaires), the MMX Blade adds an integrated framing shutter system for clean edges and controllable focus.

These ROBE ROBIN MMX Blade moving lights show signs of wear but are in good working condition. These units will be tested prior to shipping. A single road case and power cable are included with these units.

Framing, Aerial Effects, and Repeatable Positioning

Four fast, smooth moving shutter blades can be individually angled and positioned, and the complete framing system rotates through 90 degrees. This lets you cut light off scenic elements, keep spill off screens, or create precisely repeatable geometric frames. The shutter system also enables dynamic in-air looks using pre-programmed blade shape and movement sequences.

Color, Gobos, and Beam Control

The optical system is built for flexible looks, from tight beams to broader washes, with a motorized zoom range of 8.5 degrees to 45.5 degrees (8.5 degrees to 41.5 degrees for gobo, 9.8 degrees to 45.5 degrees for open hole) plus motorized focus. For fast color changes and tuning, it includes a color wheel with 6 dichroic filters plus white and full CMY color mixing (0 to 100%), plus CTO (0 to 100%) for warming the output to match camera or tungsten-balanced environments.

For texture and projection, the MMX Blade provides an aluminum animation wheel, a rotating gobo wheel with 7 rotating, indexable, replaceable “SLOT&LOCK” glass gobos plus open, a motorized iris with pulse effects up to 3 Hz, and a rotating 5-facet prism for aerial beam multiplication. A separate variable frost effect is included for softening edges when you want a smoother field.

Lamp System and Output Tuning

The fixture uses a compact high-pressure metal halide lamp (base PGJX36), with an approved model of Philips MSR Platinum 35 (1200 W equivalent) and a rated lamp life of 750 hours. Control includes automatic and remote on/off. An electronic ballast and a dichroic glass reflector help maximize light efficiency. The Robe exclusive Hot-Spot lamp control feature (Hot-or-not-spot) allows remote adjustment of flat beam uniformity or a more pronounced hot-spot, which can be useful when switching between even coverage and punchier aerial looks.

Movement and On-Stage Practicality

With 540 degrees of pan and 270 degrees of tilt, the ROBE ROBIN MMX Blade supports wide coverage and flexible rigging positions. Dimming and strobing are handled via full-range dimming and variable strobe, including electronic “ZAP” effects.
