The NEW MA Lighting grandMA3 Processing Unit XL is a dedicated parameter expansion unit for building scalable grandMA3 lighting control systems, adding high-density processing without the cost or rack space of additional full consoles. It is designed for productions that need more parameters as a show grows, including touring rigs, broadcast studios, theaters, and large fixed installations.

Parameter Expansion for grandMA3 and grandMA2

The grandMA3 processing unit XL enables lighting systems with up to 250,000 parameters and delivers 16,384 parameters (HTP/LTP) within the MA-Net3 environment. A powerful CPU supports frame-synchronous calculation, helping keep output consistent and timing aligned across the system. The unit also includes Mode2 support to expand existing grandMA2 systems by 4,096 parameters (HTP/LTP), making it a practical bridge for venues and rental inventories running mixed generations.

Connectivity for Show-Ready Integration

For straightforward integration into control networks and DMX distribution, the unit provides 2 x etherCON/RJ45 network connections and 8 x DMX512-A outputs (5-pin XLR female) for direct DMX line runs. Three USB 2.0 (Type A) ports are available for compatible peripherals and workflow needs.

Power, Physical Specs, and Operating Range

The grandMA3 processing unit XL operates on AC 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz with power consumption up to 200 VA. It is rated for an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to 104 °F). The chassis measures 482 x 372 x 87 mm (19 x 15 x 4 in) and weighs 5 kg (12 lbs). Primary power input is via 1 x powerCON TRUE1.
