The ETC ColorSource 40 is a portable lighting control console designed for streamlined, plug-and-play setup. When you power up the console, it recognizes intelligent lights in the rig and auto-populates them in patch. Simply use the onboard 7” color multi-touch touchscreen to drag each fixture into place on a customizable stage map, and you’ll be programming in minutes.

Fast Setup, Clear Playback Control

Built for quick turnarounds in venues, events, and touring rigs, ColorSource 40 pairs hands-on control with a modern touch workflow. You get 40 channel/playback faders with color indication, plus one home and five configurable softkey buttons for quick access to everyday commands. Four configurable function faders and a virtual level/rate wheel help you dial in playback timing and intensity changes without slowing down your programming.

Programming Tools for Intelligent Fixtures

ColorSource 40 supports 80 channels and multi-parameter devices, backed by an extensive library for controlling moving lights. Touch-based parameter controls, color and white pickers, and reference-based Position, Color, and Beam palettes make it easy to build looks consistently across a show. Effects are available for intensity, color, shape, and parameter, and auto fixture selection on fader moves helps keep hands-on busking and cue building efficient.

Playback, Cues, and Show File Management

For show playback, the console provides one cue list with up to 999 cues, plus 10 pages of 20 or 40 playbacks for static memories or sequences. The Playback Toy enables filtered and timed execution of playbacks, with multiple bump modes including Flash, Solo, Solo Change, and Move/Go. Full-history rubberbanding for playbacks supports flexible timing adjustments during rehearsals and live operation.

Connectivity and Console Details

Connectivity includes one DMX/RDM port and one USB port, with 2 GB onboard storage for show files. On-board help is available when you need quick reference during setup or programming. The console measures 2.36” x 26.3” x 11” and weighs 9.55 lbs, making it easy to pack, deploy, and run in portable control positions.
