NEW Clay Paky Mythos 2

The NEW Clay Paky Mythos 2 is a 470 watt-lamp moving head spotlight designed for stage, touring, and event lighting where you need both precision projection and long-throw presence. It produces a large, sharp light beam with perfectly defined edges and an electronic zoom that ranges from 4° to 50° (1:12 ratio).

Its light beam is sharp, with perfectly defined edges, from the first millimetres after the front lens right along its entire length. The zoom is optimized for focusing, which is separate from that of the fixed and rotating gobos. Its movements are smooth, fast and very quiet. Mythos also features a completely redesigned indexed visual effect disc, which may be superimposed on all the gobos, both in and out of focus.

The Mythos is also a beam light, allowing you to switch to a minimum fixed beam angle of just 2.5°. A large, very dense, 160 mm-diameter light beam leaves the Mythos’s front lens and remains parallel for its entire length even at great distances, making it well-suited for aerial looks, tight shafts of light, and high-impact midair effects.

Optics, Color, and Beam Shaping

Built around a 470W, 7800K discharge lamp and a large 160 mm front lens, Mythos 2 combines crisp focus with flexible beam control. CMY color mixing supports smooth fades for cues and transitions, while multiple color wheels add fast access to special colors and temperature correction, including 2 CTO filters (3200 K and 2500 K) and 1 CTB filter. A frost filter is available when you need softer, more blended edges for wash-like looks.

Gobos, Animation, and Prism Effects

For texture and projection, Mythos 2 provides both rotating and fixed gobo options, plus beam reducer filters on the gobo wheel to refine output for tighter looks. The advanced visual effect disc (animation disc) can be layered with gobos for dynamic movement in the beam. Two indexable rotating prisms (8-facet and linear 4-facet) expand the fixture’s creative range for wide aerial splits, multiplying patterns, and building dense midair structures.

Control and Integration

High performance electronics and firmware support responsive dimming and stop-strobe effects, along with rapid and extensive pan and tilt movements for quick repositioning and smooth tracking. Mythos 2 integrates into modern lighting networks via Art-Net and RDM, simplifying addressing, status monitoring, and configuration in compatible control systems.
