Paul DeRocher & Rui Alves Recognized for 15 Years of Service at KCACTF Region 1 Festival 56

Last month, hundreds of students attended the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival ( KCACTF) Region 1 Festival 56 at Central Connecticut State University. For the past 15 years, Paul DeRocher and Rui Alves of 4Wall Boston have led workshops on programming on the ETC EOS line of consoles for moving lights and LED fixtures. During their first year at the KCACTF, they still used Expression consoles with moving lights.

These workshops are open to all skill levels and require no prior experience.

"We try to keep each workshop light and enjoyable in an effort to help students who have never used a console feel comfortable and at ease," Rui said. "We also have open console time available for anyone that wants to practice on the console and ask us questions between workshops."

Rui continued, "Some students have attended the workshops for multiple years and will return to ask questions and improve their skills. There are even some former students from our workshops who are now festival staff and stop by to say thank you!"

Rui and Paul were honored and commended for their remarkable contributions over the past fifteen years, significantly aiding students' entry and success in the entertainment industry.
